またヒマラヤ話です。5千ｍ超えたあたりからの空気感、寒さは神の領域だったのが強く心に残っています。帰路はルクラまで歩き天空の飛行場からカトマンズまで空路でしたが、モンスーンが近づいて悪天候でフライトキャンセルが5日程続きキャンセル待ちの長い行列となりました。旅程と予算共にギリギリで、これ以上猶予がない状況でした。パイロットに必死に交渉して結局乗れたのですが、私の腕のセイコークロノグラフは消えていました。
ちなみにルクラ空港は今ではテンジン・ヒラリー空港（旧名ルクラ空港）という名前になっています。標高約2,800mの高地にあり滑走路はわずか460メートル。滑走路は傾斜しており、山と山に挟まれた場所にあるため天気が非常に変わりやすい。2010年8月にヒストリーチャンネルで放送された「最も過激な空港ランキング」で1位にランクされた世界一危険な空港です。今でも未舗装のシャンボチェ空港の離発着動画をドイツのサイトで見つけました。とにかく離陸は怖かったです。https://streamable.com/s9vudz
I am talking about the Himalayas again; the coldness and the feeling of the air from over 5,000 meters above the sea level was the realm of the gods. On the way back to Kathmandu, we walked to Lukla and flew from the sky airport to Kathmandu, but due to bad weather conditions as the monsoon season approached, the flight was cancelled for 5 days and we had to wait in long queues. We were on the edge of our itinerary and budget and had no more time to spare. After some desperate negotiations with the pilot, I was finally able to board the flight, but the Seiko chronograph on my arm was gone!
Incidentally, Lukla Airport is now called Tenzing-Hillary Airport (formerly known as Lukla Airport). It is located at an altitude of approximately 2,800 meters and has a runway of only 460 meters. The runway is sloped and the weather is very changeable due to its location between mountains; it is the most dangerous airport in the world, ranked No. 1 in the "Most Extreme Airport Ranking" broadcast on the History Channel in August 2010.
