Godzilla minus 1.0

This film has been talked about quite a bit on X and FB posts overseas. Apparently, this film is seen as a metaphor or allusion to the current situation in Japan. Strangely enough, the Japanese media does not seem to be actively covering this film. f:id:kaccinster:20231229095902j:image
The impression after watching was that it was a film that set itself apart from previous Godzilla movies. The story is set around 1947, where the mysterious monster Godzilla created by the U.S. hydrogen bomb tests at Bikini Atoll. and attacks Japan. However, the U.S. military, supposed to defend Japan, cannot take military action due to concerns about the Soviet Union. On the other hand, disarmed Japan, lacking defense capabilities, witnesses remnants of the old Japanese military fighting Godzilla as civilians.

f:id:kaccinster:20231229100004j:image Is this very similar to the current situation in Japan? Japan was given a pretense of independence under the San Francisco Peace Treaty, has been indoctrinated with a self-flagellation view of history under the U.S. military's WGIP campaign, and is enjoying economic prosperity by enjoying sports and indulging in the sex industry under the 3S policy. As a nation, we are in a distorted state with no right of belligerency under the U.S.-made Constitution, and we have not been able to review and revise the Constitution due to the obstruction of current special interests. What would happen if Godzilla appeared in such a situation? Will the U.S. military, which is our mainstay, be unable to move in the face of the Ukraine issue and Russia? f:id:kaccinster:20231229100552j:image  The various names used in the film also made me think a lot. The VFX were superb, and the ending was smooth and smart. I was impressed by the fact that everyone in the theater was watching the movie without leaving the theater until the end of the end roll.

P.S. After I uploaded this article, I checked the Godzilla Minus One website and found that "Godzilla-1.0" has been nominated for Best Foreign Language Film by the US.National Critics Circle. f:id:kaccinster:20231229100244j:image  I wonder what the Japanese media would tell them if they won the award.
